Select the type of data for the custom property (Text, Date, Number, Yes or No) and enter a value for the property in the “Value” edit box. Your custom property with the “Value” and “Type” is added to the “Properties” list. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.

LinkSource | Optional | Variant | Ignored if LinkToContent is False. The source of the LinkSource property. The container application determines what types of source linking you can use. For example, DDE links use the 'Server|Document!Item' syntax. |
Remarks
If you add a custom document property to the DocumentProperties collection that's linked to a given value in an Office document, you must save the document to see the change to the DocumentProperty object.

1. Click the File > Info > Properties button> Show document Panel item in Excel 2010/2013, see the following screen shot.
If you are using Excel 2007, you can open the Document pane by clicking the Office Button > Prepare > Properties.
